English for Speakers of Other Languages


  • MDC's ESOL program is designed to help non-native English speakers achieve success in a variety of different areas. Whether you are looking to obtain employment, improve your job-related skills, or complete the naturalization process, the ESOL program can provide you with the tools you need to achieve your goals.
  • With six different levels of instruction, from beginner to advanced, the program is able to meet the needs of students at all levels of proficiency to continue on to university study programs or certifications. Not surprisingly, this program at MDC is one of the most popular and recognized of its kind.

Requirements and Enrollment Process


Be 16 years of age or older (minors will need parental/guardian permission and proof of voluntary withdrawal from school to enroll)
Complete our Online Application form at no cost.
Take the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS) placement test at one of our centers. On the day of the exam, you must present a valid government-issued photo ID in order to take the exam. (Passport, driver's license, etc). The CASAS Placement in-person testing fee is $15.00. More information about CASAS testing.
Register at the Continuing Education office and then pay your registration fee at the Bursar's Office ($30.00 per semester).
