Certificate Overview

The Cloud Computing Certificate program is designed to provide an opportunity to establish a foundation in architect scalable, highly available application solutions that leverage cloud computing services. Utilizing best practices focusing on cloud security, cost, and reliability, participants will utilize core design patterns and infrastructure expertise to implement solutions to deploy and maintain workloads and applications.

Developed to align with industry needs, the Cloud Computing curriculum prepares students for positions as entry-level Solutions Architect, Cloud Architect, Cloud Engineer, and Cloud Application Architect.

 

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to relate different hardware, software, and services options with the specific purposes and requirements of GNU/Linux users, knowledge and skills needed to perform initial installation of major distributions of GNU/Linux Operating Systems, configure system settings, network services, and access rights,  proficiency using the command line for everyday management of GNU/Linux-based clients and basic management of server systems, implement security options on GNU/Linux-based client systems, create, find, interpret, and apply written documentation of GNU/Linux-based systems and workplace-readiness skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding knowledge of computer network concepts, understanding of network infrastructure and network operations, network security, network troubleshooting and tools, industry standards, practices, network theory, network communications, network user support, and professional development skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental database concepts, conceptual design principles, the ability to create a database design, an understanding of basic SQL (Standard Query Language) syntax, the ability to optimize information retrieval and describe Business Intelligence/Decision Support Systems, their use, and implementations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Cloud fundamentals including Cloud Computing uses, properties and components, service models, deployment models, Cloud actors, Cloud essential characteristics, and Cloud services from a business perspective.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of deployment solutions from the leading Cloud computing vendors, data center fundamentals, technical aspects of Cloud computing, adoption and implementation, Cloud IT service management and support, workplace skills, and professionalism.
