Course Description

This special experience has been developed for participants to learn about and experience the ecology of and sustainability efforts in Everglades National Park. Habitats we will explore in the park include sawgrass marsh, slough, hardwood hammock, and the Pahayokee Overlook Area. Come prepared in comfortable hiking clothes to learn about wildlife and native plant species found in the park. Bring your own lunch. This is a 6-hour immersive experience delivered in Everglades National Park. The cost of admission is included in the course fee.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the following competencies: Explain the relationship between ecology and sustainability. List similarities and differences between different environments in Everglades National Park. Describe the importance of Everglades National Park to the global ecosystem and climate sustainability. Develop an appreciation of the beauty and importance of natural environments. Discover the variety of plants and animals in the wilderness. Identify common plants in Everglades National Park.
