Course Description

In this course, students will explore the art of upcycling by transforming existing garments, vintage clothing, or recycled textiles into innovative and stylish new pieces. Through a combination of deconstruction, reconstruction, and creative restyling, you will learn techniques to breathe new life into old materials while honing your sewing, tailoring, and design skills. Beyond technical skills, this course emphasizes personal creativity and self-expression, empowering them to reimagine fashion in an eco-friendly way.  

Course Outline

Required Materials:

  • Clothing to restyle, choice of fabrics

  • Fabrics and trims to incorporate

  • Sketch or photo of project.

  • Notebook, pencil, ruler, scotch tape, eraser, scissors (for both paper and fabric),

  • Pins, measuring tape

  • Sewing machine (optional)
