Course Description

This class covers the early childhood teacher’s role in promoting emergent literacy in early childhood education (birth age 5). Topics discussed include using a curriculum of oral language, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, phonological awareness, children’s literature, family literacy, and literature perspectives to celebrate diversity. The class is a combination of lecture and hands on activities and strategies to use during story time.
