Course Description

This course prepares registered nurses for the Nursing Informatics Board Certification Exam (NI-BC) through structured, online, and asynchronous modules. Topics include informatics foundations, system design, data and interoperability, analytics, clinical technology, and emerging trends. The course concludes with a comprehensive review and test-taking strategies. Completion of all modules and participation in mandatory check-ins is required for certification preparation and exam readiness.

  • Explain foundational nursing informatics concepts, theories, and frameworks (DIKW, ANA Scope & Standards).

  • Map workflows and analyze clinical processes for improvement.

  • Apply System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) principles to healthcare technology projects.

  • Evaluate data governance, analytics, and clinical decision support systems.
