Course Description

Required in order to work for a Medicare or Medicaid home health agency. Students in the home health aide certificate program must complete 75 hours of training and successfully complete CPR-BLS for healthcare provider (American Heart Association {AHA} only) and HIV/AIDS in the healthcare environment course. Series recommended. Home health aides assist patients with completing important personal tasks such as dressing, bathing and a variety of hygiene needs. Additional aspects of this position include assisting clients to remain safe in their own homes by providing a higher level of assistance with minor cleaning and instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs) such as cooking, light housekeeping, and laundry.
