About the Judo Program at MDC
- Our Judo program is specially designed for teens aged 12 to 15, focusing on developing coordination, balance, strength, and confidence. Classes include games and exercises that develop teamwork, endurance, and understanding of judo’s moral code, emphasizing respect, honesty, and self-discipline. Students continue strengthening basic techniques, physical conditioning, and practice-controlled sparring (randori), building confidence and resilience.
The Kolychkine Method:
Our program is built on the prestigious legacy of Master André Kolychkine, the 8th-degree black belt who revolutionized Judo instruction with his academic, Ph.D.-level research. This isn't just about repeating moves; it's about understanding the science behind them.
- We teach the biomechanics of movement (Muscular Kinetic Chain), so your child learns to use leverage and strategy, not just brute force.
- We focus on mastering temporal factors, ensuring movements are fluid, precise, and effective when they matter most.
- Students learn Spatial Factors—the art of placing their body for optimal advantage, a key to success in both sport and self-defense.
